Authentic Only
As my super-talented creative designer and I considered potential images for these readings, I was drawn to a particular outdoor scene. It seemed the clear choice. But thankfully before we went with it, she did a little more research and reached out with this:
I noticed the filename contains the words "AI Generated." If you'd rather I seek out something human-created, I am totally on board. I am noticing, though, that many of the stock image sites are becoming increasingly populated with AI generated images. It’s hard to tell whether a camera took the picture, or whether it was artificially generated.
That was huge. Because, as many of you know, I have a hate / hate relationship with anything AI. If you’re curious why, check out my book, Risk the Real: How to Defy the Rise of the Artificial.
So my creative designer went on a search for real images and found a helpful filter option. It offered three options:
All Content
Authentic Only
AI Generated Only
We’re going with “Authentic Only” every time. In your creative pursuits, I hope you will as well. While AI may provide fast answers and cheap solutions, there are hidden costs. For starters, relying on the artificial will only make your work more artificial. But it doesn’t stop there. And, as we look to AI more than to God for answers, we become less real as well.
As you pursue your gifting with God, do yourself a favor. Set your creative filter to Authentic Only.
