Begin Now
When God invites us to do something that pertains to a current situation or season, what’s the next step?
Begin the work now.
Could it really be that simple…especially for big projects?
To answer that, let’s consider one of the biggest projects ever—the original building of the Temple in Jerusalem. The full story is in 1 Chronicles 22 but here’s the summary. David longed to build the Temple, but God wanted a man of peace, not war, and chose David’s son Solomon. David, with limited vision, saw his son Solomon as young and inexperienced (vs. 5). But God saw Solomon through different eyes, saying “He will be my son, and I will be his father.” (vs. 10)
The story reveals how God gives wisdom and understanding to those who pursue their calling with him (vs. 11-13) and seek him with all their heart and soul (vs. 19). Doing so will empower you to be strong and courageous rather than lose heart or be afraid (vs. 14). Not because of your power or might. But because “the LORD your God is with you.” (vs. 18)
The project God’s given you may seem beyond your capabilities. That’s okay. It’s never beyond God. Remember, he is your Father. He is with you. So what’s the next step?
“Now begin the work, and may the Lord be with you!” (1 Chronicles 22:16 NLT)
