Formula-Seeking Creatures

Why are so many books, songs, and shows today so similar?  

It isn’t accidental. Nor is it motivated primarily by wonder or imagination. 

When something is applauded, the human pull is to produce more of the same. When it comes to making life work, we are creatures of habit. Or maybe a more direct way to say it is that we are formula-seeking creatures.  

But what made the first song or show work was actually its blazing originality. A second serving never has the impact of the first taste. The act of repeating never matches the art of creating.
