How to Create in Greater Freedom

Who or what do you turn to for validation in your creativity? Is it tied to industry approval, sales numbers, profitability, reviews, or perhaps something else?

We all look to someone or something. It’s good to actually name it. If it’s anyone or anything other than God, we are setting ourselves up for a fall. Because whoever we give the power to validate, we also inadvertently give the power to invalidate.

Create in greater freedom by refusing to give your art—or others—the ability to validate or invalidate you. That’s a burden your art was never meant to carry.

And remember, your art doesn't make you. You make your art.

Only God can fully validate us and our creativity. And he does so not primarily as teacher or critic, but as Father and Creator.
