Season of Waiting

We’re about to explore the main ways we get stuck and why certain categories seem to derail us more than others.
Before we go there, I want to offer another consideration. Staying in the same place isn’t the same as being stuck. There are times when we are savoring a specific situation or opportunity and choose to remain in it. At least for a season. That’s normal.
But what about when you’re in a season you desperately want to end? Even then, feeling stuck doesn’t necessarily mean you are stuck.
God may have you in a season of waiting or preparation for what’s next.
Think of it this way. Just as an invitation in the mail foreshadows an upcoming future event, God may give you a glimpse of what’s to come. In the season between now and then, you’re not stuck. You will, however, need to balance patience and expectancy.
Getting invited to do something important on a larger platform can be exhilarating. But before we can step into the new, we often must become new by going through a time of testing or refining with God. Until that happens, we won’t be ready for the upgrade in responsibility that awaits.
I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure. I will refine them like silver and purify them like gold. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, “These are my people,” and they will say, “The Lord is our God.” (Zechariah 13:9 NLT)
In times of preparation, God is growing us up for a future opportunity. Much of what he does is hidden and internal as he prepares our hearts and minds for what’s next.
When we are glitching, forget focusing on the future. It’s hard enough to just complete our present tasks. God wants to go after these sticking points, to restore them and us.
That’s what we’ll focus on now—the major ways we get stuck. And how to break free.
