Stay In the Center

A pastor recently made the comment that believers have been moved to the fringes of culture. It’s interesting that he sets his bearings by culture, as if it is at the center of everything—and we’re either in or we’re out based on that metric. 

The opposite is actually true. God created reality. He defined how life works and what matters. Christ holds it together: He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. (Colossians 1:17 NLT)

God is the only constant in a culture that continually moves farther away from him. We keep trying, as did Adam and Eve, to create our own version of reality with us as the heroes of the story.

Believers who keep God at the center of the story aren’t on the fringes. We’re in the middle of the only true reality, and culture—as it ignores, mocks, and rejects God—is at the fringe of that.

Don’t set your GPS to whatever unreality the culture runs after. Make God alone your North Star. He will set your course for the only story that matters, regardless of what culture pursues at the fringes of reality.
