The Flaw of Faking It

Our culture has fully embraced the mantra: "Fake it till you make it." But there are two big problems with that approach.

First, it starts in falseness. Pretending isn’t helpful on the journey of becoming real.

Second, it assumes an orphan mindset. It’s all up to you to “make it.”

As a son or daughter of God, you are never alone. God wants to do all of life together. Through his initiation process, you become more true…not less you.

The next time you’re in over your head, don’t fake it until you figure it out. Start real and stay real by seeking God’s presence, wisdom, and strength. Rather than pretend to know more than you do, stay true to who you are in Christ and know he will equip you for whatever you face.

Now may the God of peace…equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. (Hebrews 13:20-21 NLT)
