The School Bookmobile
When I was a boy, the only thing cooler than the Batmobile was the bookmobile. And unlike the Batmobile, the bookmobile was real. It would show up at our elementary school a few times each year…and I would lose myself in shelves of stories.
I hadn’t thought about those bookmobiles in decades. But when entering my local Barnes & Noble last week, the smell of paper and books instantly brought me back to the awe and excitement I felt walking through that school bookmobile.
Then God took me back even further. To how he created me to love stories. To be a writer. To savor words and ideas. And how that would ultimately connect me with like-minded kindred spirits through these readings.
I went into the bookstore last week to find a good story. But God gave me something better. A memory of how he has, since boyhood, pursued my heart and drawn me to him…through story.
