Getting unstuck feels so good. The immediate desire is to rush forward into whatever is next. That’s understandable, but it can cause us to quickly be on the wrong path.
In this stage, we’ll explore what makes our heart beat faster—and why. The goal is to find our groove—and that requires us to slow down rather than speed up.
We aren’t after instant answers but the right path.
The question isn’t what can you do? We can all do a lot of things. The question also isn’t what others say we should do. Or what pays the most. Doing so has led many sincere people to spend their days in what they have no interest in, believing that’s all there is.
The far better question is this: What are you uniquely created to create?
The answer is likely hiding in plain sight in your past. Consider what you’ve always been drawn to. Is it a specific location, perhaps the beach or the mountains? Or maybe how you always spent any free time—activities that cause you to lose track of time when you enter into them. Pay attention to these clues from your past.
What would it look like to experience those interests again—in a fresh new way? I don’t recommend you quit your current job in the hope that someone will begin paying you for what you most love to do. That would be nice…but it rarely happens that way. What might an expression of that longing look like in this season of your life? That’s the invitation—to consider what you can’t quit thinking about. Give time to the enticing idea that won’t let you go. What do you enjoy rather than just endure?
Take time to remember and reclaim what makes your heart beat faster. That’s the way to find your groove again...with God.
