Find Your Own Jam

You have a way of seeing the world unlike anyone else. It reflects the unique gifting, interests, and creativity that God knit into you before you were born.

Your creativity is at its best when your God-given originality differentiates it from everything else.

Years ago, an experiment was conducted in a California grocery store. It involved an in-store display which rotated between six and 24 kinds of jam. The results were striking. Customers with fewer options were ten times more likely to make a purchase. Those with too many choices were overwhelmed and left with none.

Too many options, it turns out, is too much.

The more your creations look like what’s out there, the more potential customers don’t see it…or become numb from too many choices of similar sameness. Predictable art happens when we follow someone else's (or even our own) formula for creativity.

We already have too many options for grape jelly. Rather than offer one more variation of the same thing (even if that’s what your audience expects), come up with a new flavor or option.  Find your own jam. Then share it with the waiting world.
