Interpreting the Present Times
How is your creativity relevant to this particular moment in time?
So many Christian writers and publishers seem utterly tone-deaf to this moment in time. They continue to churn out feel-good works that are more focused on us than God. The same is happening in many churches. The message on Sunday mornings often could have been from a sermon thirty years ago. Yes, the Word of God is timeless. But we are here for such a time as this. And Jesus calls us to be aware of the signs of the time.
Then Jesus turned to the crowd and said, “When you see clouds beginning to form in the west, you say, ‘Here comes a shower.’ And you are right. When the south wind blows, you say, ‘Today will be a scorcher.’ And it is. You fools! You know how to interpret the weather signs of the earth and sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the present times.” (Luke 12:54-56 NLT)
Jesus calls us to interpret these times. Not mimic them. We don’t want to conform to the times. Or echo what tickles the ears of popular opinion.
So back to the opening question. How are you using your voice for such a time as this (Esther 4:14). How will your creativity encourage the saints, counter the lies, and reveal how God is at the epicenter of this story we find ourselves in?
This reading was crafted to encourage your pursuit of story and creativity with God. Your donation makes this crowd-funded initiative possible. You can support it via PAYPAL (or by check to Allen Arnold at PO Box 62841, Colorado Springs, CO 80962).
