Four Questions

-An exclusive excerpt from Allen’s new book-

We want answers. I get it. So why am I starting with questions? Because as Henri Nouwen wisely observed, “Answers before questions do harm to the soul.” Questions always lead to greater outcomes than answers alone—because they require curiosity and conversation.

Great, you may be thinking, I already have too many questions.

I understand. But I also know the fruit of asking the right ones. I’ve helped thousands overcome their creative struggles to make what matters. Four questions have proven to be the most helpful in restoring our creative foundation.

These questions make up the four parts of this book. They will frame our journey, reveal why our creativity is glitching, and lead to the best answers.

Part 1 – What Is the Creativity Glitch?
What is it, why is it happening, and how did it begin? More importantly, what would our creativity look like without it? Naming our situation sets the foundation for freedom.

Part 2 – Why Are You Stuck?
Gain clarity on what’s holding you back, why you are vulnerable in these areas, and how key “glitch breakers” can get you unstuck.

Part 3 – What Is Your Groove?
Rather than gravitate to what comes naturally or what’s popular, it’s time to find your true groove. Doing so will infuse you with purpose and joy.

Part 4 – How Do You Create with God?
God never intended for us to make things by ourselves—but together, with him. The “shift to with” changes why we create, how we create, and what we create!

Take a moment now to consider how you’re coming into this journey. Are you expectant or exhausted? Do you mostly feel free or frustrated? Are you spending more time promoting or pursuing your dreams? Does your work leave you restless or restored?

It’s hard to create if you doubt your creativity. Even in your questions, it is possible to become a confident creator. Let’s look at how.
