Give Your Art an Eternal Spark

So much of what’s created is temporal. It’s here. Everyone talks about it for a day. Then it’s gone and forgotten. If you don’t believe me, try to recall what the top song, album, movie, or book was five years ago. How about one year ago? How about last month?

What we’re after in our creativity is something different. What we create with God transcends us. It has an eternal spark that isn’t bound by time—not because of us but because of God. How do we do this?

“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.” (Philippians 4:8-9 MSG)

Choose this path and your art won’t just be evergreen, it will be timeless.
