More Ready Than You Think
My friend was going through a really challenging season. While writing him an email of encouragement, God surprised me with an unexpected insight.
I was mid-sentence telling my friend about how God was using this time to prepare him for what’s ahead. That’s when God nudged me to pause on the word “to prepare.” Something wasn’t quite right. Here’s my sense of why.
God wasn’t preparing my friend for what was ahead. He had already prepared him. And because of that, my friend was ready now. He might not know what was coming. But I wanted him to know whatever comes and whenever it is revealed, he is ready.
Could the same be true for us? Ask God what he has already prepared you for. Then stay expectant for how, and when, that will come into play. But in the meantime, rest in knowing that God has already created you anew in Jesus for the good things he’s planned for you long ago.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)
