Your Boundary Lines

This is where some of the ideas you’ve been trying on in the Curious stage start to come together in a purposeful way. Where desire, anointing, talent, and interest align.
Think of the Converge stage serving the same function as guardrails at a bowling alley. When one is learning the game, guardrails help the ball keep moving toward the pins rather than rolling into the gutter. As the psalmist, who wasn’t even a bowler, said,
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places. (Psalm 16:6 NIV)
In a similar fashion, the Converge stage keeps you moving toward your goals.
It takes into account the unique passions, interests, and defining moments of your life. Together, it’s what makes you...you.
Early childhood experiences. How you experienced play. The scars of your story. What you’re drawn to. The effect you have on a room when you enter and leave it. Your level of awe for God. How easy it is to laugh at yourself. How well you love others. How freely you cry. If your heart is alive or shut down. Whether your decisions are driven by fear or love. And who or what you give the power to validate or invalidate you.
The way all of these converge forges the lens through which you see the world, yourself, and others. Knowing this increases momentum, intention, and purpose for who you are becoming and what you’re creating. It’s a season where there’s a narrowing of ideas but an expansion of purpose. Like an out-of-focus lens suddenly coming into clarity.
“You can’t see the forest for the trees” is a popular saying. It means that if we focus on every detail, we will miss the big picture. This stage reminds us of the larger forest we are trying to grow. It will only happen if we choose trees of life over trees of knowledge.
This is how we find our groove.
