Want God to Lift You Up?
In this instant gratification culture, it’s hard to wait on others…or even on God.
AI has conditioned us to expect immediate answers. And to see ourselves at the center of the story. We grow impatient with delays, because we want to control how fast things move in our career. Forget the journey. We want results. Now.
But God doesn’t operate on our timetable. Nor does he lift us up for the sake of our ego. In fact, the first step to doing life with God isn’t based on our accomplishments or talent but on our humility.
If you will humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, in his good time he will lift you up. Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you. (1 Peter 5:6-7)
Notice the sequence. The first step isn’t focused on our timing or expectations. It requires us to humble ourselves. If we will, then God will lift us up. When he’s ready.
In the waiting, we can start to doubt his goodness. Or question if he cares or even knows what’s going on. That’s why the second half of the verse provides these reassuring words: Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.
So stay humble. And remember, he will lift you up. In his good time.
