Whose Voice?
-An exclusive excerpt from Allen’s new book-
Times of creating can be lonely. Any voice of support would be so comforting. Or would it? The answer depends on whose voice it is.
Many turn to self-proclaimed “experts” on social media to guide them. Others put their trust, as I’ve mentioned, in an outside force or a fairy-like muse who whispers ideas into their ears to guide them. Some rely on their subconscious mind to connect the dots as they dream. And then there’s the “voice” of AI or ChatGPT.
We’re allured by these outside voices, open to whatever we think will give us an edge. The problem is that none of these voices actively involves the Creator or reflects his voice. As discussed earlier, there is no neutral force or muse speaking to us. There are, however, many voices in the spiritual realm. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit speak to us. The enemy and the fallen angelic beings have voices as well. We must know the difference.
The enemy is a liar and an accuser (John 8:44, Revelation 12:10). The fruits of the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Sometimes we can’t escape our own voice and thoughts. Sure, our brains continually try to solve problems, yet we have something far better than relying on our minds. We have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). Jesus wants to change not just how we live, but how we think. And when it comes to AI or ChatGPT, do you really think the artificial can replace the living God? Some may counter that God works through any and all means. Fine. Then choose him over all other means. He isn’t shy, and he doesn’t need a human creation like AI to communicate. He is our Creator. He has a voice. And he still speaks.
It’s time to silence all the other voices and focus on the only voice that matters. We’ll discover how in the next reading.
