Your Most Creative Day of the Week
Did you know your creativity can vary based on the day of the week?
It took an unexpected conversation with an appliance repairman for me to understand how this was possible. He was fixing my washer and dryer and has seen it all in his forty plus years in the business. So I asked why some appliances and cars seem to last forever, while others of the same make and model, constantly have issues.
He winked, “You best hope your car or appliance was assembled on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The items put together on a Monday or Friday are more likely to have future mechanical problems. It’s not a knowledge issue. It’s a human issue. On Monday, workers are dragging in from the weekend. So they’re fuzzy. And on Friday, they’re ready to wrap up and start the weekend. So they’re in a hurry.”
Since my washer, dryer, and truck are almost twenty years old and still going strong, there’s a high likelihood they were made in the middle of the week.
What about your project? If you want what you’re making to last, it’s worth considering which days of the week—and even which hours of the day—you are most productive. It’s not a knowledge issue. It’s a human issue.
