Mostly Exhausted…or Expectant?

A good gauge on whether we’re pursuing our creativity from our own strength or with God is whether we’re mostly expectant…or exhausted. Because God doesn't give us more than we can do in a day. We give ourselves that burden.

So in the creative choices you face, remember this. It’s not a race or competition. The goal isn't to be first or go fast. Trying to create that way is exhausting. And there’s no correlation between good art and burnt-out artists. It’s hard to make works of life when you have little life in you.

A better approach is to rest in your gifting. If God has given you a dream, he will see it through. God never worries about running out of time or resources. His Kingdom is one of abundance, not scarcity. As his sons and daughters, he wants to father us through every aspect of life. As our Creator, he longs to create with us.

Creativity isn’t easy. But it also isn’t supposed to be exhausting. Pursue what you love with God. Go at his pace. And stay expectant for all that awaits.
